Our providers spend plenty of time with patients in order to gather adequate information and build trust in a calm, relaxing environment. Dr. Ren Bedasbad ND, L.Ac.
Dr. Ren is a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist in Bend, Oregon. He is a primary care physician that commonly treats gastroenterology, autoimmune conditions, thyroid, diabetes, mental/emotional concerns, and pediatrics. He focuses on empowering every patient to reach their health goals in a supportive and safe way. Medical care may include clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, physical adjustments, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, and acupuncture.
Dr. Ren grew up in Spirit Lake, Iowa with an upbringing based on compassion, caring for others and a family motto of Peace and Love. After completing his BSc in Zoology at the University of Otago in New Zealand, he decided to focus on supporting people’s health and happiness. He studied at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture before moving to Bend.
Dr. Ren has a desire to support those in need and has done medical missions all over the world, including Haiti, Philippines, Thailand, and Mexico. He has also volunteered at PACH, which gives free medical care in Phoenix, AZ. In his free time he enjoys traveling, qi gong, spoiling his dog and two tortoises, reading, and playing guitar.
Dr. Christy Bedasbad ND, L.Ac.
Dr. Christy is a licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist who practices general family medicine with special interests in gastroenterology, mental illness, fertility, and chronic conditions. Patients receive individualized medical care that may include acupuncture, homeopathy, botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, hydrotherapy, physical medicine, CranioSacral and Mayan Uterine Massage.
Dr. Christy is originally from San Antonio, Texas where she earned her B.S. in Biology from the University of Texas in San Antonio. She attended two graduate programs simultaneously, earning a Masters of Science in Acupuncture at Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture, and a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Upon graduating from her naturopathic program, she received the prestigious Daphne Blayden Award for her commitment to naturopathic medicine, academic excellence, compassion, perseverance, a loving sense of humor, and a positive, supportive outlook. She also has additional training in CranioSacral from the Upledger Institute.
Dr. Christy has a passion for community medicine and has volunteered on multiple medical missions around the world, including Mexico, Thailand and the Philippines. She now lives and practices here in Bend Oregon. In her free time she enjoys traveling, supporting the San Antonio Spurs, playing the ukulele, and pampering her dog and two tortoises.
Kat M. Lui, L.Ac., MSOM
Kat M. Lui is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist who incorporates meditation and somatic bodywork in her practice. She focuses on listening, and providing the tools patients need to manage stress, find clarity, and reconnect to emotional and physical wellbeing. Patient care may include Japanese Meridian Therapy using non-insertive needling, Worsley 5 Element acupuncture, moxa, tuina, shiatsu, sotai, and traditional acupuncture modalities. Chinese herbal formulas, qi gong exercises and clinical nutrition programs are prescribed as needed.
Kat was born in Hong Kong and has spent much of her life in the Western United States. As a wildlife biologist on Maui, Kat worked in the rainforest saving endangered birds. In 2004, she created Malama Wao Akua, a beloved annual art show highlighting Maui’s native species. Before becoming an acupuncturist, Kat engaged in three years of full time meditation practices. For the past decade, she has helped clients release emotional patterns and access inner freedom through therapeutic meditation techniques. She is inspired by authentic connection and fueled by curiosity.
A desire to grow and contribute to a larger purpose has taken Kat on adventures abroad, from USAID projects in Kenya and Tanzania, to building a rammed earth meditation hall in the Outbacks of Australia. She is currently happily ensconced in the volcanic landscapes of Bend Oregon, dancing Argentine tango, singing songs in languages she doesn’t speak, and most recently, studying the Bhagavad Gita.
Dr. Andy Kelch, L.Ac., DSOM
Dr. Kelch is a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese herbal medicine in Bend, Oregon. He has experience helping patients through a wide variety of acute and chronic health issues, including digestive, urogenital, and upper respiratory complaints, and he holds a special interest in treating musculoskeletal pain of all kinds, particularly pain of the neck, shoulder, low back, hip, knee, and sciatic region. His thorough approach and diverse treatment strategies allow him to identify and address the root cause of his patient’s complaints, leading to faster, longer-lasting results.
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Andy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied Mathematics and Secondary Education. He then spent several years living, working, and playing in the mountains of Colorado, before eventually heeding the call to study Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM) at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon, earning a Doctor of Science in Oriental Medicine (DSOM). His analytical mind and teacher’s heart serve as a foundation from which to apply the ancient art and science of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, helping patients realize and achieve their wellness goals.
Dr. Kelch’s sincere passion for learning has driven him to study extensively with numerous world-renowned teachers in the field Chinese Medicine, including a month-long retreat to the sacred mountains of Sichuan, China to study qigong, meditation, and herbal medicine. Versed in various styles of acupuncture, Andy is also gifted in gentle forms of bodywork, often incorporating Cranial Sacral Therapy, Myo-Fascial Release, Sotai, or Qigong Tuina as a compliment to his acupuncture treatments.
An avid hiker, mountain biker, and snowboarder, Dr. Kelch is thrilled to be living in Central Oregon, and, when not in the clinic, he gets outside as much as possible in pursuit of fresh air, exercise, recreation, and natural beauty.
